Gregory Dace has several years of experience working on advanced data recording technology and is president of Acumen Instruments Corporation. He has designed and built data acquisition hardware for high altitude balloon experiments, digital medical data recorders, and ruggedized full-featured serial data recorders for precision agriculture, the aerospace industry, and for use in Antarctica and elsewhere. He has been involved in the development of prototype Gigabit Ethernet and FireWire physical-layer integrated circuits. He has also designed and fabricated telemetry subsystems for high-altitude balloon experiments and served as Engineering Director for the Alpha-series missions of the High-Altitude Balloon Experiments in Technology (HABET) project. Dace received his BS degree (1988) in applied physics with minors in electrical engineering and nuclear engineering from Michigan Technological University. He has pursued graduate work in physics and astronomy at Northwestern University (1988-1989), and in metallurgical engineering and engineering mechanics at Iowa State University (1989-1997).
